Jennifer Hundley, The Voice
who i am:
I am often the only one of my kind in a group and sometimes feel like I need to be the spokesperson for all those who look and feel as I do. I am “The Voice”, speaking up for the people who are marginalized and often lack representation. I grew up in Howard County, MD, spent some great years in Austin, TX and currently reside in SE Washington, DC. Yeah, that SouthEast.
What makes me feel alive:
Standing in front of a group of people speaking about a topic of great interest to me. There is something electric about commanding the attention of others with our words and passion. One of my favorite quotes from a TV episode, “Words, words when spoken out loud for the sake of performance are music.”
“Unless I’m dead, it’s not too late.” I could spend time and energy lamenting the false starts, the moments when my health train was held in the station or worse, got derailed and crashed for a time. It’s better to figure out what can be done now, retool my approach and get back at it. There is still time.
Most grateful for:
Reading and Driving. I always tell young people that these are two essential things that fuel our independence in life and introduction to the beauty of the world. When you can learn whatever interests you and get yourself to the places you want to visit, discovery and adventure are always within reach.
