Jennifer Hundley, The Voice                    who i am: I am often the only one of my kind in a group and sometimes feel like I need to be the spokesperson for all those who look and feel as I do. I am “The Voice”, speaking up for the people who are marginalized and often lack representation.   I grew up in Howard County, MD, spent some great years in Austin, TX and currently reside in SE Washington, DC.  Yeah, that SouthEast.    What makes me feel alive: Standing in front of a group of people speaking about a topic of great interest to me. There is something electric about commanding the attention of others with our words and passion.  One of my favorite quotes from a TV episode, “Words, words when spoken out loud for the sake of performance are music.” Wellness Call-to-Arms: “Unless I’m dead, it’s not too late.” I could spend time and energy lamenting the false starts, the moments when my health train was held in the station or worse, got derailed and crashed for a time. It’s better to figure out what can be done now, retool my approach and get back at it. There is still time.    Most grateful for: Reading and Driving. I always tell young people that these are two essential things that fuel our independence in life and introduction to the beauty of the world. When you can learn whatever interests you and get yourself to the places you want to visit, discovery and adventure are always within reach.

Lisa Carter, The Balancer, Founder of Connectic Fitness Who I Am:     I am your confidence coach. I am a 30-something that has finally learned to unapologetically embrace the beauty of imperfection. I help others to do the same. That is my passion. After 10 years in the beauty industry as a hairstylist, I stepped into the world of fitness. I am now a certified personal trainer and the founder of Connectic Fitness .    what makes me feel alive: I am a plant. Sunshine and the sea recharge me like a battery.  Knowing that I’m a small piece in something much bigger makes me feel inspired to stay connected to the world, the people and the energy around me. That connection makes me feel alive!    Wellness Call-to-Arms: After years of taking the western approach of medicine for anxiety and wishing that I had more control, I decided that I did have control and I took it back. I did that through diet and exercise. They say that results are the greatest motivator to keep going. I find that to be true. Now that I’ve started and have been successful to this point, there’s no turning back! Let’s see how far the rabbit hole goes.    Most Grateful For:      “Is it strange for me to say, that if I were to die today, there’s not a thing that I would change...I’ve lived well.” -Jhene Aiko.  That rings true of my life. While it has not been perfect and I've had my ups and downs, I am grateful for the life I’ve lived. I am grateful for my knowledge of truth, my ability to catch my dreams, all the beautiful people that have come and gone and stayed. I am grateful for this moment... right here, right now.
